How It Works
  • Back2Nature Wellness & Adventures is excited to offer this guided Overnight Stand-Up Paddleboard Camping Adventure for beginner to intermediate paddlers on the serene South Saskatchewan River, just outside Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. A journey that blends adventure, nature, and nervous-system-nourishing practices.

This experience is an invitation into both wellness and adventure, guiding you along an inner journey through immersive time in nature. Moving with the river, sleeping under the stars, and disconnecting from daily distractions creates space to clear the mind and reconnect with yourself.

The total paddling distance for this trip is 23 km over two days. On Day 1, you’ll paddle for approximately 4–5 hours, and on Day 2 for 2–3 hours, with plenty of breaks to rest, reflect, and take in the landscape. We paddle downstream, offering a more easeful, flow-based experience when the wind is in our favour. You’ll have the option to stand, kneel, or sit on your paddleboard to support comfort and confidence throughout the journey.

You’ll camp overnight on a sandy riverbank, falling asleep under the stars and waking to the sounds of the river.

This trip is all-inclusive, with all gear provided (Rental of Touring Stand-up Paddleboard and Camping Equipment). Delicious, nourishing meals are included and enjoyed riverside.

This is a learning and participatory experience. Your guide will provide instruction and support throughout the weekend, including how to load your gear onto your paddleboard and on how to set up your sleeping area at camp. Opportunities for learning are woven into the experience — from outdoor skills like building a fire, to personal development practices that support presence and self-awareness.

    Wellness Elements Included

    • A gentle morning Qigong practice on Day 2, supporting circulation, mobility, and embodied presence before returning to the river

    • Time and space for rest, reflection, and relaxation in nature

You must be comfortable paddling in a straight line, turning and stopping. You must have experience standing-up on your SUP, be comfortable standing for up to 30 minutes at a time and be confident that you won’t fall in when standing. Weather in Saskatchewan can be unpredictable, therefore the days may be hot, cool, calm or windy. Therefore, prepare and pack for any weather situation.

A few days prior to the trip, the guide will assess the weather situation, and if need be, may need to cancel or delay the trip if inclement weather surfaces.

  • Our team at Back2Nature will be in touch with you via text message if the weather conditions (i.e. wind, thunderstorms) are unsafe to paddle and we will arrange to reschedule the paddle.

  • What should I wear?

You can wear a swim suit underneath a base layer (we recommend a merino wool short sleeved or long sleeved top). Then pack with you a fleece or wool sweater and a rain jacket. As for bottoms, we recommend wearing a quick dry material of shorts, capris or pants and bringing with you a pair of rain pants. As for your feet, we recommend submersible footwear that you can get wet. Please bring with you an extra change of clothes and footwear.

What if I run out of water?

No worries, we have you covered with a filter that we refill water bottles right from the river!

    Do you supply life jackets?

Yes, we have various sizes of PFDs/life jackets that we provide, along with a whistle attached!

Can I still join if I’ve never paddled before?

Even though we recommend previous paddling experience, we can provide you with training that will allow you to feel safe and confident on a stand-up paddleboard!

Do I need to stand for the whole trip?

Absolutely not! You can stand, kneel or sit down for any duration of the paddle!

What about a bathroom during the trip?

At camp we set up a backcountry toilet with toilet paper and a wash basin to wash your hands!
