Becoming Comfortable with the Uncomfortable

How often do you sit in the uncomfortable?

How often do you experience discomfort?

Right now, I’m going through a time in my life where it feels really uncomfortable. I’m stretching and growing and I have had many things in my life fall away and shift and change. As more discomfort sets in, I’m wanting to control to gain more comfort and when this desire comes through, I may reach and grasp for things that are out of alignment.

Instead, I’m learning to become comfortable with the uncomfortable. Instead of reaching for my coping mechanisms when the discomfort arises, I’m pausing and sitting in it. Sometimes I give in, but I’ve gained that new awareness of when it surfaces and I can then consciously choose more often to sit in the uncomfortable.

I’ve recently set a reminder on my phone once a day that will go off with the message “Sit with the Uncomfortable”. So far, I’ve loved this gentle reminder to consciously choose the discomfort as I’m navigating stretching and growing in new ways and a new being.

I’d love to hear if you have any strategies or tools that you use to sit in discomfort. Let me know in the comments below!

With love,

Kyla
