A Six-Week Journey Through Movement, Nature and your Inner Landscape
What to Expect
The Six Week JourneyStep away from the noise of daily life and return to the wisdom held within your body.
Five Spirits Qigong & Hike is a guided five-week nature immersion experience that explores the relationship between the body, mind, emotions, energy, and spirit. This outdoor wellness series combines gentle hiking, Qigong and teachings by the Five Spirits of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Each week, we will explore a different Spirit and its connection to the body, emotions, seasons, elements, and natural world. Through intentional movement and time outdoors, you will be invited to settle your nervous system, deepen your self-awareness, and reconnect with the inner guidance that can become quieter when life feels busy or overwhelming.
The natural environment becomes part of the practice. Trees, water, sky, wildlife, weather, and changing trail conditions offer opportunities to notice what is happening both around you and within you.
Rather than trying to push through discomfort or change yourself, you will be encouraged to slow down, listen, and build a more compassionate relationship with your body and inner world.
No previous hiking or qigong experience is required. This series is designed to be accessible, supportive, and welcoming.
Yi is connected to thought, concentration, learning, intention, and our ability to process experiences.
When Yi is strained, the mind may become caught in overthinking, worry, or repetitive mental loops. This week will focus on grounding the mind through the body and reconnecting with what feels stable, nourishing, and supportive.
Our practices will encourage centred awareness, intentional movement, and a deeper understanding of how we nourish ourselves physically, emotionally, and energetically.
❋ Week Five: ZhiKidney Spirit | Water |Wisdom, Courage and Inner Will
Zhi is connected to wisdom, willpower, courage, resilience, and the deeper currents that guide our lives.
This gathering will explore the difference between forcing ourselves forward and moving from a grounded sense of inner commitment. We will reflect on fear, trust, and the quiet strength that becomes available when we stop abandoning ourselves.
Our final practices will support stillness, restoration, and connection with the wisdom that lives beneath the surface.
❋ Week One: ShenHeart Spirit | Fire | Joy, Presence and Connection
Shen is often described as the Spirit of the Heart. It is connected to consciousness, presence, emotional expression, relationships, and our ability to experience joy.
During this gathering, we will explore practices that support inner calm, heart awareness, and connection. You will be invited to notice what helps you feel present, open, and at home within yourself.
Our qigong and meditation practices will focus on settling the mind, opening the heart space, and creating room for genuine connection.
❋ Week Three: YiSpleen Spirit | Earth |Thought, Nourishment and Grounding
❋ Week Two: HunLiver Spirit | Wood | Vision, Direction and Growth
Hun is connected to imagination, vision, purpose, creativity, and our ability to move forward in life.
When we feel disconnected from Hun, we may feel stuck, frustrated, directionless, or unable to imagine new possibilities. This week will invite reflection on where your energy wants to move and what may be ready to grow.
Through walking, qigong, and nature-based reflection, we will explore flexibility, direction, and the relationship between vision and grounded action.
❋ Week Four: PoLung Spirit | Metal |Grief, Instinct and Letting Go
Po is connected to the physical body, breath, instinct, grief, and our relationship with change.
Nature continually demonstrates the process of release. Leaves fall, seasons shift, and landscapes transform. This gathering will explore what it means to let go without forcing, rushing, or bypassing the emotions that may accompany change.
Practices will focus on the breath, body awareness, healthy boundaries, and creating space for what is ready to be released.
❋ Week Six: Integration & ReflectionBringing the Five Spirits into Everyday Life
Our final gathering offers space to pause, reflect, and weave together the teachings and experiences from the previous five classes.
Through a gentle hike, qigong, journalling, and optional group sharing, participants will revisit the Five Spirits and notice which themes have felt most present in their lives. We will explore how Shen, Hun, Yi, Po and Zhi work together, rather than as separate parts, supporting our capacity for presence, vision, release, nourishment, courage, and inner wisdom.
This class is not about reaching a final destination or having everything figured out. It is an opportunity to recognize what has shifted, honour what is still unfolding, and identify the practices that feel most supportive moving forward.
Participants will be invited to reflect on the messages they have received through their bodies, emotions, the natural environment, and their own inner awareness. We will also explore how to carry the Five Spirits into daily life through simple qigong practices, intentional pauses, time in nature, and continued self-inquiry.
The gathering will close with a grounding integration practice and an intention for the season ahead.
Who is this for? This series is for adults who feel called to reconnect with themselves through nature, movement, and meaningful reflection.
It may be especially supportive for you if you:
• Feel mentally busy, emotionally overwhelmed, or disconnected from your body
• Are moving through a transition, period of uncertainty, or personal growth
• Want to strengthen your intuition and ability to trust yourself
• Are curious about qigong, Traditional Chinese Medicine, or energy awareness
• Spend a great deal of time caring for others and need space for yourself
• Want gentle tools to support emotional balance and nervous system regulation
• Enjoy hiking but are seeking a deeper and more intentional outdoor experience
• Feel drawn to personal or spiritual growth without wanting anything overly complicated
You do not need to consider yourself spiritual, intuitive, athletic, or experienced in energy practices. You only need a willingness to slow down, remain curious, and explore.
Why Does it Matter? Many people move through their days disconnected from the messages of their bodies.
We may notice fatigue, tension, frustration, grief, restlessness, or uncertainty, but continue forward without creating space to understand what those experiences may be communicating.
The Five Spirits offer a framework for listening more deeply.
Each Spirit reflects a different part of our inner landscape, including our capacity for awareness, direction, courage, connection, wisdom, and presence. When these qualities feel unsupported, we may experience emotional patterns, mental strain, disconnection, or difficulty trusting our next step.
Qigong, hiking, and nature immersion invite us out of constant thinking and back into direct experience. The rhythm of walking, intentional breathing, gentle movement, and sensory awareness can help the body shift out of chronic stress and into a more settled state.
This matters because clarity does not always arrive through thinking harder.
Sometimes clarity begins when the nervous system feels safe enough to soften, the body feels heard, and the mind becomes quiet enough to notice what has been waiting underneath the noise.

Kyla is the founder and guide of Back2Nature Wellness & Adventures. Her work brings together outdoor exploration, nervous system awareness, qigong, meditation, astrology, BodyTalk, and nature-based reflection.
With a background in biology and extensive experience guiding outdoor wellness experiences, Kyla creates supportive spaces where participants can slow down, reconnect with their bodies, and explore their inner landscape through the wisdom of nature.
Her approach is gentle, grounded, and experiential. Rather than telling participants what they should feel or discover, she offers practices that help each person listen more deeply to their own experience.
-
